Our connection to Natasha began when one of our interpreters reached out on social media, sharing Natasha's story. Born with Cerebral Palsy, Natasha has faced immense challenges since birth with her condition requiring constant care. Her mother had to give up her job to look after her full-time and with no money coming in, Natasha was unable to attend a school which could provide for her needs. It was clear that Natasha and her mother needed support, and we knew we had to help.

After consulting with our interpreter Davison, we learned more about Natasha’s needs. We originally provided her with a new wheelchair, which we thought would enable her to go to school. However, we found out that Natasha needed to attend a specialist school to care for her needs and give her much needed physiotherapy. Davison identified a school based on the outskirts of Lusaka called Little Assisi Special school which looked the perfect fit for her. We decided to pay for all school fees for Natasha as every child deserves to be educated and the specialist physiotherapy would help immensely.

This opportunity not only offered Natasha the chance to live a more fulfilling life but also allowed her mother to return to work. Understanding the importance of financial independence, we also supported her mother in setting up her own business and taking classes to teach her how to run a business.

After a routine doctor's visit at Natasha's new school, it was identified that non-ambulatory surgery would improve her comfort and increase her muscle strength. Without hesitation, we covered the costs for the surgery, which she is now recovering from with two further surgeries to follow.

Being part of Natasha’s journey has been an incredibly rewarding experience for all of us at Language is Everything. It has reinforced our belief in the power of community, compassion, and the impact we can make when we come together. Natasha's story is a reminder that even small actions can change lives, and we are proud to have played a part in her journey toward a brighter future.
