On Friday, 9th August, Language is Everything hosted a heartwarming bake sale to raise funds for The Aortic Dissection Awareness charity. The event was a delightful blend of community spirit, delicious treats, and a shared commitment to a vital cause.

This charity holds a special place in our hearts after one of our colleagues, Joanne, had suffered a tear in her aorta a few years ago. Joanne faced a complex recovery with little post-surgical support. Essential information on managing her condition and emotional care was lacking, leaving her feeling unprepared and vulnerable. The trauma of her experience, coupled with scarce psychological support, made her emotional recovery particularly difficult. The Aortic Dissection Awareness charity provided Joanne with much-needed support precisely when she needed it the most.

The summer bake sale featured an array of homemade goodies, from mouth-watering brownies to beautifully decorated cupcakes, all lovingly prepared by our colleague Lucy. The response was overwhelming, with colleagues coming together to support the initiative.

The Aortic Dissection Awareness charity’s mission is to save lives by improving diagnosis of Aortic Dissection and ensuring that every family affected by this disease has access to the best available information, care and support.

Through the generous contributions and enthusiastic participation, we managed to raise significant funds for the charity, whilst also spreading important information about aortic dissection. The success of this event underscores the power of community and collective effort in making a meaningful difference.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated and helped raise awareness. Together, we’re making strides in supporting those affected by aortic dissection.
