| Translation standards reviewed
EITI has submitted its comments for the review of
the National Occupational Standards in Translation.
National Occupational Standards (NOS) are statements
of the skills, knowledge and understanding needed in
employment. CILT, the National Centre for Languages,
is the UK Standards Setting Body for languages.
“We wish everyone at CILT well with this review,” says
Dawn Bowes, EITI’s operations manager, who was
a member of the steering group for last year’s
review of the National Occupational Standards in Interpreting.
“In our comments for the review we stressed
the importance of the ‘big picture’. How
can translators best help the ‘end-users’ of
translation services - in business and the public sector
- achieve their strategic aims and objectives?”
