EITI has launched its 2006 annual report on the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.

The report highlights a number of key changes currently affecting the interpreting and translation industry. It also includes a case study of EITI’s work with Central and North West London Mental Health NHS Trust; it looks at the potential benefits of telephone interpreting for business; and it poses the question “What makes a great interpreter?”

The General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed 21st May the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development in November 2001. According to the UN, "The Day provides us with an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the values of cultural diversity and to learn to 'live together' better. UNESCO continues to promote greater awareness of the crucial relationship between culture and development and the important role of information and communication technologies in this relationship."
