Review
of the National Standards in Interpreting
The government’s recognised
centre of expertise on languages, CILT, has invited
EITI’s Operations Manager Dawn Bowes to join the
steering group for the review of the National Standards
in Interpreting.
The Standards, which have been
developed in consultation with expert practitioners
and are approved by the UK regulatory authorities, aim
to define competent performance in interpreting.
They were last revised in 2000
and are in need of updating. The review project will
run from February to December 2005.
“We’re very much
looking forward to working with CILT and other experts
on this project,” said Dawn.
