Interpreters and translators

Approximately 3000 interpreters and translators were accredited for work with Language is Everything.

In general, all of our linguists are DPSI, NRPSI or IOL accredited. We also recognise a number of other interpreting and translation qualifications, such as those provided by accredited universities and the LOCN. Please see the related links section of this page for more information about the above qualifications.

We work in partnership with professional bodies, government organisations and service users to promote better opportunities for the professional development of linguists. For example, we were part of the steering group for the review of the National Standards in Interpreting, which also includes representatives from the Institute of Linguists, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and CILT, the National Centre for Languages.

We are a registered body with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), which helps us to identify candidates who may be unsuitable for certain work. All interpreters and translators applying for accreditation with us are screened by the CRB.

National Standards in Interpreting and in Translating
The National Standards are designed to reinforce and enhance the status of practising interpreters and translators.

DPSI
The Diploma in Public Service Interpreting is a professional interpreting qualification for work with UK community languages.

NRPSI
National Register of Public Service Interpreters for the use of public service organisations.

CACDP
CACDP holds a register of BSL/English interpreters in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
